CLARISSA McNAIR was born in Mississippi and graduated from Briarcliff College in New York with a degree in American history. In Toronto, she was a researcher for CBC-TV’s award-winning documentary on organized crime, Connections. In Rome, she was a news writer and newscaster for the international news, and producer of documentaries for Vatican Radio. On weekends, she was news anchor for WROM-TV. Later, while writing her first novel in Rome, she was director of international publicity for Empire Productions. In Los Angeles, she worked closely with Steve Friedman, head of Kings Road Productions, in all aspects of film.

Basic Black, her show now broadcast on World Radio Paris, is vignettes of French crime, scandal and death. In addition to her experience in film, television and radio, she is a published author and a private detective.
